Percy was very proud of the fact that he was a former show owner, and whenever he could, he would travel up to Los Angeles to attend the Paul Eagles Circus Luncheon Club, of which he was a member. (It was Percy who first introduced me to Smokey Jones at the Luncheon Club’s Christmas Circus in 1974.) In the mid-1970s, he got to go out on the road with Circus Vargas for a few days to letter a truck for them in the old-time style. He should really have been working at Baraboo, where he could have used his talents to help them restored their old equipment, while totally immersing himself in the old time circus environment.
