Note the air conditioning wagon in the background. So that would date the photo as 1939 (T Jacobs) or perhaps 1940 (A Court).

A lot of people are not aware that almost all of the equipment used on the Winter Dates belonged to each individual temple rather than the show,(Orrin Davenport was basically, a "Brief Case Producer"). This probably included the wooden chutes used in the back hallways in Detroit & Cleveland. The worst thing there of course was the smell in those tight quarters, in Detroit the building mgr. Joe Bader had a restaraunt at the end of the hall, it was not always easy to eat there.

That's a very interesting piece of history. Why did the temples own their own equipment instead of the producer? Furthermore, why didn't the temples share the equipment instead of buying and storing it themselves.
I know I heard this before, but how did Orin Davenport start producing those dates?
