Blanket on every other elephant. I suggested that they might cut them down the middle and hang one half of each on the outside so they will have a full set.

Wait until peta sees them. They'll think those are targets on the side of the elephants for hunters!

Dick Flint,
You know I am in the "Ringling corner" with you, and I still want to think it is the Greatest Show on Earth, but I think we got raped this year, buddy. This is the damnedest thing I have ever seen. Why not just use head pieces on every other one with out a blanket, and really save a nickel.
Can you imagine Col. Herriott coming out with 12 horses, 6 with fine harness and 6 naked so he could buy feed for them?
Buckles, I don't know if running the pictures yesterday of the "glory days" was a way to really illustrate and make a point about what has happened. If it was, brilliant. The message is received "loud and clear."
It would have behooved them to try to locate some of the blankets that were five fingered over the years, and rented them back.

That's also my favorite human cannonball, Tina Miser, on the lead elephant (who is "Asia", I believe).

Wade, I try not to be in any corner other than that of balanced and fair. And I'll defend those treated falsely or harshly (even if, like Ringling, they are held to a higher standard). When I viewed the blog this morning (knowing we'd have a review of the show from Buckles), I thought it odd to skip bedecking every other elephant--and I don't find the design very creative (no others to recycle?). Clearly, elephant blankets should reflect Don Foote gorgeousness. I was glad to see show girls astride the bulls in another photo.
