Anonymous said...: Two of the nicest people in the business, they were broken in by Bob Yerkes on the flying act. They were well-featured in a George Plimption TV special focusing on Plimpton's attempts to fly. He arranged this through Frank McClosky, and practiced hard for his one trick, a feets across and his one time making it back to the board. He deserves credit for sticking out the tough regimen and the sore muscles. He was generous in his credit to Bob and to Phil and Francine. I was glad to later see the Schachts succeed brilliantly with the elephant Dondi, trained by Mac MacDonald.
