So nice to see a picture of this great act.I met Crispin Suarez in San Jose ,Costa Rica late 80s.This as his Circo Hermanos Suarez was there.THe show was superb.I recall the opening being a renactment of a two cocks fighting. The first act opened with the cat act.Usually worked by Crispins brother. The tigers first then the lions presented seperately. Their equipment and tent were top notch. Also in the show great family flying act, funny clowns ,and Salvador the baby elephant born on the show. They had named it that as it was born in El Salvador. The family was very cordial to me.Enrique especially helpful. During that same time or year we also saw Fuentes Gasca circus both in San Jose and in the mountain town of Ciudad Quesada.
I think this photo is of a different branch of the Suarez family. The act that was on Beatty-Cole ( 1969 - 1973 ) were I believe cousins to the people in this photo. This photo does not appear to have been taken on Beatty - Cole. Might be Sells & Gray in the early '70s. I've forwarded it to some family members who will do a posotive ID on it. I'll let everyone know so we can all get a good nights rest.
That is Isabel,Martha,Enrique,Rueben, and Rosa Suarez. Tepa and I got to work in this riding act in 1979 when Martha had hurt her knee and Rosa was pregnant. Our mom made the headpieces in this photo. A great family, act, and friends
This was proberbly taken on the Gatti Show in the mid to late 70's. This is Enrique, Rosa, Rueben, Isabel and Martha, dear family friends for as long as I can remember.
I don’t know the aerialists or the equestrian families in either of these photos, but the preceding photo # 5 shows a bail-ring top (Sells and Gray had a push-pole top). The following photo # 7 shows 2-sets of quarters and I believe Sells and Gray had only one set of quarters. However, one cannot see in photo #6 any of these distinguishing characteristics of the big top.
Isn't it Martha who in more recent years had a very nice Gaucho act? Still on the road? We haven't seen the Suarez in a long time, but the last time we did, on a Hanneford show, "little" Rico was turning into an excellent rider. Can someone tell us if he's still performing?

The whole family are good friends
of mine for many years and both
Martha & Maggie have worked with
me in my shop over the years
No one was ever better or faster
at glueing mirrors on a ball of
any size than Martha and Maggie
is one of the most accomplished
and versatile wardrobe & special
props creators that I have known
And yes they were cousins to the
Hugo Pino Clementine Raul & Lupe
Suarez family
