I have heard that the metal bars for this bear cage were made from the truss rods off the old wooden flats when they were abandoned in favor of the Warren cars, the transition being completed in time for the 1929 season.
The late circus model builder George Barlow visited the Sarasota WQ about 1929 and told me a bunch of those old yellow wooden flats were parked on those dead end sidings that extended south out of the quarters for a short distance. He said they were sort of behind where Capt Heyer later had a place.
At the end of either the 1928 or 1929 season, RBBB ran an ad in Billboard offering the old wooden cars for sale.
