The Indian Tomb #13

Ayan's fate, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Ayan's fate

Following more murder, mayhem and a Gotterdammerung finale that includes a chase across a crocodile-infested lake, Ayan eventually receives his comeuppance and ends up spending the rest of his days in this pitiful state, doing penitence for his misdeeds.

Like Conrad Veidt, Joe and Mia May eventually emigrated to Hollywood. For many years, they owned and managed The Blue Danube restaurant in Los Angeles.

Long unseen, The Indian Tomb was recently rediscovered and restored to its former glory. It is sometimes shown on the Turner Classic Movie Channel during the wee morning hours, and is also available on DVD. Since it is a silent film, it is accompanied by a music score (a rather good one, I might add) that helps set the exotic mood and which mirrors the action on screen. (As Buckles' dad used to say, "I can sit through almost anything if the music is good." )

I was surprised how good the music was for the Lon Chaney "Hunchback of Notre Dame" om TCM a few nights ago.
Even more surprised that the title hadn't been changed to "The Physically Challenged of Notre Dame."

For those really into silent movie music and who are interested to learn more about the musical score for THE INDIAN TOMB, there is an on-line article that tells all about how it was done. You can find it at:
