Buckles,
Please ask Don to provide more information about the pas de deux dressage with the camel and the, I think, Arabian on the video. It is beautiful, yet almost comic, and quite amazing. I never liked camels until I was charged with the care of four returning from Japan in 1990. I discovered how intelegent and affectionate they could be. This a beautiful piece of work. I would like to know more about it

I remember hearing that Nellie Dutton had a dressage camel that she presented in the ring.

Back in the 70's,I was working aflying act at Storytown (age dating myself) with Rex Williams and his animals also there. One of his acts was a mixed group of an elephand (Reid), a camel (Dutton), and a horse (Yankee). Wonder if there is any connection to this camel - just name or otherwise? Warren

Hi Warren,

That was an interesting video wasn't it.

It was sent to me from a friend in Europe. You will also find it on Bill Strong's blog:

www.yesterdaystowns.blogspot.com

I wish I had more information for you, unfortunately, it came to me third hand. You might try contacting Bill Strong, who said that he received it from Joanne Pinson.

All the best,

Don Covington

Warren and Don,
The video was also posted on circusNOspin on Nov. 15th. It was sent in by Jody Campbell who had received it from Butch Rivers wife, Julie.

Buckles, Wade, and Don - thank you for providing the information you have on the unusual dressage presentation. As I have time, I'll try to track down more and see if I have any luck finding out more.

Well, here we are in Nashville again with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and I was out this afternoon feeding our camels. They are truly affecionate and wonderful animals. We have 3 of Joe Hedrick's dromedaries here, five sheep and a donkey. All are part of the Nativity portion of the show. Great fun.
Happy Holidays everyone....
