"Kenya" #2

Scan10966, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This picture taken on "Kenya's" first day in show biz. We were on our way to the L.A. County Fair and picked her up at Jungleland where she had been imported for us by Louis Goebel.
Didn't take long, collared her to "Anna May" and away we went.

Did the little Asian and little African get along at that age? Or did they seem indifferent of each other?

They got along fine.
Oddly enough the only unusual effect came from several of the big elephants who would shy away from any new small elephant.

On Franzen I remember Okha had taken one of the young elephants to be her pet, and not being too friendly towards the other. It didn't take long for the "protected" one to figure out she could agitate the other then run to Okha. Were there "favorites" among the adult elephants in this herd later on?

As we went from show to show and "Anna May" was moved from herd to herd she would invariably chum up with a new acquaintance.
She practiced Gay Rights before it came into fashion.
