From Paul Gutheil

We were at A RBBB PR event in Newark on Sept. 3rd. It was great.
We met and spoke with Mayor Cory Booker who is a very fine
gentlemen. He and his associates are trying hard to turn Newark
around and they are succeeding. The Felds are donating a couple
or more million dollars towards a (children's?!) museum that will be
near the Prudential Center. When I told him how impressed we were
with what HE is doing for Newark, he politely corrected me and said
it is WE; he takes no individual credit.

I got no impression other than that he genuinely loves the circus and
he mentioned a couple of times to all assembled about how wonderful
it was when, as a child, he was taken every year to see RBBB.

I must admit,as a resident of Northern NJ for 58 years, I always dreaded
even going near Newark, BUT NOW......we have been to Newark 3 times
since Sept 3rd and felt quite comfortable. The Prudential Center is won-
derful, it's employees very warm, courteous and proud. The Police are in
great evidence and they have all new vehicles. They too are most helpful
and proud.

Today we parked at a brand new Hilton Hotel in the Gateway Center, right
across the street from Penn Station Newark and about a 5-10 minute walk
from the arena....inside almost all the way. They are supposed to be building
a walkway that will take you, completely enclosed, from Penn Station to the
arena. WE PARKED AT 10:15 AND LEFT AROUND 5:00....IT COST US
$10.00.

I've got to agree with Paul. The family and I were at the Prudential Center for the first time this weekend and were greatly impressed with the place.

I have to be honest, with the Meadowlands just a few minutes away I just couldn't see the need for a new arena in North Jersey but this is a beautiful, state-of-the-art building.

The only downside was the greedy parking deck beside the arena that gouged families for $20.00, CASH ONLY! Nice job if you can get it but you won't get it for long, charging premium NYC prices in Newark. Way out of line!

Next time (and there WILL be a next time) we'll take the train.
