During the 1939 New York World's Fair, an amateur (and no doubt affluent) film maker documented the entire fair on Kodachrome movie film. This footage, running several HOURS, is now generally available on DVD and can be purchased inexpensively on eBay and on-line. (If you've ever wanted to take a time trip back into the past and visit this fair, these films are the next best thing! Since the filming was done using Kodachrome, the colors are just as fresh as if these scenes had been taken yesterday.) Of particular interest to the readers of this blog are scenes filmed at Frank Buck's jungle camp exhibit, from which these still frames were taken. |
