Aubrey Black married Richard T. Ringling. Following his passing, she married James Haley. James Ringling was the son of Robert Ringling. James passed away in Iowa just a few years ago.

Every time I drive past the James A. Haley VA Hospital here in Tampa I think of his career in the circus before he entered politics.

Mable and Paul Ringling were the children of Richard T. and Aubrey Ringling.

Aubrey was one of the two "Ringling ladies," the other being Mrs. Charles Ringling, who each by their inheritance of the ownership of 1/3 of RBBB: unseated John Ringling; enabled the rise of Sam Gumpertz; deposed the Gumpertz administration in favor of John North; dumped John North for Robert Ringling; and finally facilitated the ultimate return to power of John North.

Mable [as the family spelled it], a fine lady, died May 31, 2004. She was an equestrienne on RBBB during the Gumpertz years. Her brother Paul, about the last of his generation of Ringlings, still resides on the ranch in Montana that John Ringling sold to his father many years ago. He also worked on RBBB during the Gumpertz years. Among his experiences was being in the red wagon when the mob came on the lot at Scranton in 1938. For their employment during the Gumpertz years, both were excluded from any RBBB involvement in later years.

Well, they say politics is a circus, but I don't think that's fair to the circus. There are surely "politics" in the circus business [at a personal level], but the circus usually has a route to know where it's going, and a performance schedule to specify who's to be in the ring.

In response to an article in the press describing the US Congress as a "circus", Kenneth Feld indignantly replied that unlike Congress, his circus was highly efficient and quite profitable.
He neglected to mention however that when it comes to "politics" RBBB takes a back seat to no one.

RBBB is more like a dictatorship than a democracy, and the emphasis is not on "tatorship".

Bienvenue to the new blog contributor across the sea; brie anyone?

Felicitation is actually English for good wishes and congratulations.
