Dear Mr Woodcock, attached are pictures from 'Big Charlie', by JH Williams ('Elephant Bill'), thought you might find them of some interest. Williams was a Forest agent in Burma, and has written several books about his involvement in the logging industry, including 'Elephant Bill' and 'Bandoola'.
Regards, Don

The end of this elephant's life is another case of the "bunny huggers destroying the bunny". After Ibrahim passed, the RSPCA decided that Charlie would become to dangerous so they gassed him to death. They first asked Dick Chipperfield to shoot him but he refused. Sounds like the same situation with Gunda, the bull at the Bronx zoo in the early 1900's. "We would rather see Gunda shot than on a chain in his stall". Same with the current culls of African elephants in Swaziland. The AR folks would rather see these animals shot dead on the plains than captured and given a chance to live. It's good to see we have come so far.

It appears that various of the following photos are of a different elephant, as I notice much different size tusks and size in general.
