"Marcella" #1 (To Adaline)

"Marcella" was brought into Circus World in early 1977 for retirement.
She spent her days in the barn on display and her nights on the outside picket line. Before long she began to decline rapidly and finally one morning she was unable to arise. We had "Anna May" help her to her feet using collar chains, a procedure we followed for the next few days but it was easy to see the end was in sight.

Oh, Buckles! Thank you! I always wondered how it ended for her. It is comforting to know that she had as fine a soul as Anna Mae to help her.
It was difficult for her to move at all and she was painfully slow.

However, her last costume was a beautiful red, white and blue with a jaunty hat to tipped to the side and a gorgeous blanket. A Grand Dame to the end.

I hope she's there to pick me up when it's my time to go.

Capt do you remember who this is leading her? I think I had a pair of shoes and hat like that I used on the ride?
