Werner Winter #1 (From Henry Penndorf)

Werner Winter.2, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

I would like to know if you have ever heard of, or are familiar with a Swiss animal trainer, Werner Winter, who performed in Europe during the 40's and 50's. He was referred to as "Europe's Tarzan". Would he be listed in your book "Raubtiere im Circus"?

There is an Internet web site (Werner Winter - Raubtierdompteur (www.wernerwinter.tk)) devoted to Werner White that was posted by his nephew, Neto Winters, and there is a tribute video of Werner Winter on You Tube(YouTube - WERNER WINTER worldwide youngest animal trainer in the 1940s).

From the pictures on the web site Werner Winter appears to have been a versatile performer, training and presenting a variety of animals, including all the big cats. He also appeared with most of the major circuses in Europe.

Maybe some of the Blog's readers know of with Werner Winter and have some additional information on him.

Was his name Werner Winter or Werner White? It is posted both ways. Was he called Europe's Tarzan because of the costume he wore?
