CLYDE BEATTY SAVES THE DAY! Chapter 2

Lost Jungle2, originally uploaded by bucklesw1. Clyde’s two co-stars in THE LOST JUNGLE were Cecilia Parker and Syd Saylor. Cecilia had a long career in B-Westerns, serials, and B-pictures. She is probably best remembered as Andy Hardy’s older sister in the M-G-M Andy Hardy series. Syd Saylor was cast as Clyde’s sidekick Larry, the circus press agent. (In their scenes together, Saylor’s exuberant personality helps to gloss over Clyde’s lack of acting experience.) Another great old character actor who appears (briefly) in THE LOST JUNGLE is George Hayes. During a sequence onboard a disabled dirigible, the distinguished looking Hayes describes an elaborate banquet he once attended, much to the annoyance of the rest of the passengers whom have been reduced to living on dried crackers. A few years later, Hayes, minus his false teeth and sprouting a full beard, become a permanent fixture in B-Westerns as “Gabby” Hayes. TO BE CONTINUED!!!
