Nora thinks that the apt house in the distance is either 50 or 60 Amsterdam Avenue.
Shannon -- tech question -- on this blog: when post stacked on the left (let's say there are 6) where can I find posts 7 -8 and 9? Somehow I only show the most very recent.
Nora's family moved from Am Ave in the early 70's but they were there for the building of Lincoln Center. Every time Nora's mother heard mention of Lin Ctr she would remind us that there was dust throughout the apartment for the several years due to the construction.
She said that they took so much dirt from the ground that if they dumped it into the Hudson River that you could walk to Jersey.
After looking at your smiling mug once again, I would like to correct the locale of the photo. The New York State Theatre is located right behind the shovel of snow and the street to the right of the photo is West 62nd.
You would be facing Amsterdam Avenue (10th Avenue).
The last time I visited you and Buckles at Big Apple NYC my daughter Katie and I parked on Amsterdam Avenue. After visiting several friends after the show we discovered that the car was either towed or stolen.
A phone call from a staff member at BAC to the local police precinct confirmed that the car was towed to the MEGA LOT on the pier. A wild taxi ride and $125 later we retrieved the car.
Katie drove upstate and after a while I realized that the $125 was just the tow charge that there would be an additional ticket of $50 (approx) for violating the NO PARKING SIGN.
