The Swan was built for 1904, a year after the big parade build-up on both B&B and RB. It displaced the Lion Bandwagon as the lead feature, but was used only through 1911. In 1912 the Five Graces was transfered over from the shelved 1910-1911 Forepaugh-Sells outfit and replaced it. For part of the time on Ringling it was drawn by a 24-horse hitch. It remained stored in Baraboo until Chrity rolled in about 1927 and away it went, along with some other vehicles. It served on Christy for several years, the last time it rolled in a bonafide circus parade.

Does anyone know the color that Christy had this painted? Appears to be a dark color -- perhaps red or green. In Baraboo, it has always been white with blue highlights. A truly beautiful bandwagon that was thankfully preserved.

There's a set of photos taken after the Maynard wagons were taken by United Tent & Awning. The printed inscriptions on the back sometimes includes the paint choices. If Maynard didn't re-paint it after buying it from Christy, that might give you an answer.

Swan wasn't used with Lee Bros., but on Christy Bros.
