Buckles,
This was one of the best circus TV specials ever done. Unlike acts that appeared on TV variety shows such as Ed Sullivan, the original music for the acts was played.

Sure would like to have this on DVD,as would many other of your readers!

I don't doubt that you saw Rex on TV from the Beatty-Cole, NYC date in '62. As you say, it may have been part of another TV show.

I went to the Hall of Fame as a child a couple times. I know it is all gone now except for the concrete slab of the main building. I've found the recipts from RBBB where they were selling stuff to the Hall of Fame in 1959.

So, was the Hall of Fame buildings partially existing to begin with, or was this a from ground up Museum? I never really knew the history of it. Was it in existance prior to 1959 when they were buying the RBBB stuff?

To Pat Cashin,

That John Zwiffle who bought the Circus Hall of Fame in Sarasota had obtained a 16mm film copy of that show as part of the sale. I recall him showing it at a CFA meeting some 25 years ago.

When John later sold the CHoF colletion to Peru, many of the items were not included in the sale, although they paid dearly for what they got. From what I understand, there was also a complete film library of the old "International Showtime" TV show episodes. I do not believe these films went to Peru.

As far as being able to get a copy of that film from JZ...let's just say, you have a better chance of winning the lottery.

My very first ever circus clown job was at the Hall of Fame. I finished Clown College in 76 and got a call in January from George Hanneford to come back to Fl and be in his circus at the Hall of Fame. Paid $100/week (seven days) and a place to sleep (in my van in his yard). I lasted a week.
Twenty years later, my last circus job was at the Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale, for Vicki and George Hanneford. Paid more per week (still seven days) and the parking was way better. Yacht Haven Marina-- included 24 hour lights, water and sewer hook-up and a pool and jacuzi. Lasted 14 months.

Not a bad run at all . . .
