The Chicago parades were held in 1981 and 1982. The wagons were taken down there on system flats as the Museum flats had not been used in 8 years. Many of the wagons had to have the wheels taken off to make the trip. Jim Peterson and Tim Perkins have both run some photos of that event on their blogs.
