I never met Mr. Miller. He reminds me of either the local undertaker or one of the bosses on The Sopranos. Either way he looks like he is all business...anyone care to share stories?
Obert Miller was a hard working Dog and Pony show kind of person. That the circus grew to such an enormous size was bothering and baffling to him. In early days he would be seen in rubber boots, slouch hat, old clothers out guying out, sewing or fixing and would put on a shirt, pair of pants, neck scarf and work in or annouce the show. After his last marriage his wife go him "dressed up" as seen in this photo, but that was not the Obert Miller old timers remember. He did not cuss and used "sonofaboot" frquently. He always called his son by his given name "Dores" of which his son did not care for and all other people called him Dorey until someone tacked on the sophisticated D R. Obert loved his ponies and from a little foundation mare, popular on the show for many years with a white body and totally black head named Mae West he built up a sizeable herd of ponies. I could write more about him but I guess I rattle on too much.
