From Richard Flint

Whale show001, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This is a good view of a Pacific Whaling Co. operation discussed under
the Arthur Bros. stock car photo. It almost appears that, as was
sometimes done, a special spur track was laid to the street. The
railroad car had fold-down sides to create a walkaround platform.
This view comes from a 1930 post card sent out as advance advertising
with a fake greeting from "Bill" about seeing the show and that it
would be in your town soon. They advertised like circuses for I've
got two newspaper-size couriers also and as the Corporation titles
faded in the 1930s, some side show talkers donned sailor suits for
these shows. The shows stunk, quite literally, and so one of the
souvenirs sold on the show was perfume! While whale exhibitions
actually go back centuries, Anfenger's Pacific shows began in 1928 and
met with great success, touring numerous units until the start of
WWII.

Do you know if these whales were preserved or treated with anything?
I was wondering how often they had to change out the main attraction??
