Roger,
It looks like this lions has those "halloween Dracula teeth" that we have seen in the past.

Artistic liberty on the front teeth? They are too straight across, someone dressed up this photo?

Gary,
You will note the same teeth in 90% of old photos of lions doing the head in the mouth O death trick. I had seen it so often I was beginning to think they had invented one of those deals that you jamb in a horses mouth and ratchet open so you can float their teeth. LOL
How is your farrier back feeling? Have you ever done any work for Michael Byatt Arabians i New Ulm, Texas? He has a band of brood mare's that will take your breath away.
Regards my friend,
Wade Burck

P.S. Do you suppose these are "European" style trainers or "American" style trainers?

Wade,
Back is fine, Thanks for asking! No I don't do alot of Arabians. Most of my clients are performance horses, ie ropers, reiners, cutters, barrelracers and general cowhorses. These are mostly Quarter Horses as you well know.

Gary,
How about the names/ancestors of some of the "Big Gun" reiners and cutters you have shod. When you talk about training an animal, there is nothing like a great reiner or cutter to make you appreciate patience and what is possible.

Wade, I have shod a few AQHA world champions in Cutting. Sanjo Lena, Playboys Remedy both won the same year, Sr and Jr cutting. Same Trainer/rider, owner and of course Farrier. Also shod a reiner that won a "Triple Crown" of reining back in 87. Horse was named ZZ Top. Amateur rider both won 3 big events from Okla, ST Paul and I forget last city? Won $60,000 and sold for same, horse went to Italy. I have shod a few rope horses too that won the World.

Gary,
Playboy's Remedy is indeed a "big Gun", as is ZZ Top. I believe they used to tape handle bars to the pommel and work him to Born to be Wild in the freestyle classes. A lot of our fine horses went to Italy. They got real interested in reining back in the 80's-90's. A Count's son had a big farm in New Jersey, where they used to keep them, before flying or boating them out of New York. A lot of Hollywood Jac 86 and later Hollywood Dun It babies have became Italian citizens.
Best wishes,

Wade, I was shoeing for a
Trainer by the name of Jerry Kimsey back then. He was actually over in Italy for a while and wanted me to come over, but my son was newborn then and I just couldn't leave him then.

Wade, I should also brag alittle and tell you I worked on Joann Pinson's horses twice! Once at the Dr. Pepper Circus at the State Fair of Texas and again at Donnie Johnson's Winter Quarters in Seagoville! :)

Gary;
Wow!!! None bigger then JoAnn Pinson. That is a feather in your hat. Was there a good looking bay morgan named Toma in that lot?

Wade if I remember right it was an all App herd? Anyway not bad credentials for a SuperDuperPooperScooper turned Farrier! :)

Anonymous said...

Gary,
If it was an App herd it was Trudy Strong and her POA's.

Wade, I am sure that the herd was Trudys, but Joann had them at that time? It was around 82-83?
