Red Show 115th Edition #1 (From Brandon Sterk)

115thspec, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Hello Mr.. Woodcock,
Here are some pictures for your blog if you want to post them. They were all from the Rosemont Horizon, in Rosemont, IL (the first of the 2 Chicago stops).

-Obviously you know a ton about the circus and circus history. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? (Its not really historical) but why did Ringling stop wintering in Venice and where is their winter quarters now?

-Also, its obvious that the show has downsized over the years, but why do you think they have gotten rid of so many of their elephants and what did they do with them all?

Thanks for the great site!

Brandon Sterk

"The quarters in Venice was abandoned after a dispute with the city over the maintenance of the trackage utilized by the circus trains.
Today all three units, not unlike the Israelites of old, wander endlessly through the desert with only brief encampments at various Florida Fairgrounds in the dead of winter.
During this time, one will be refurbished and renamed. Judging from the comments I heard during the latest offering, it should be titled "Shut the F___ Up! and get on with the Show!"
As to the elephant situation, on the contrary, there are more now under Feld ownership than ever before, 80 per cent of which live in seclusion."

Mr. Woodcock,
Why are all the Feld/Ringling Elephants in seclusion? Why don they just have them out on the road?
