For a split-second I thought Bobby Gibbs was alive and well and working in Europe.

I don't think front row, with a box of popcorn, would be the best location to watch this act! That first animal looks like he has already spotted some good eats. cc

You don't normally see 2 giraffe in the ring; only one.

Jaime,
Are you the Jaime that I met in Mexico this past month, on the show with one giraffe? Are you back in the states now? You should be getting ready to open soon?

klsdad here..

On the subject of two giraffes - I remember watching Gunther at Madison Square Garden, enter leading two giraffes with his son Mark standing
astride them. Mark must have been early teens and
the giraffes not full-grown.
Unfortunately they only made it half-way to the center ring and the giraffes became a problem and couldn't continue.
Does anyone else remember this?

I do not remember GGW having TWO GIRAFFES on RBBB.

When RBBB was finished with the giraffe, Dickie, he was sold to Bob Commerford, Showman Extraordinaire and Yankee Horse Trader Par Excellence.

Mr. Commerford bally-hooed DICKIE at every county and state fair up and down the East Coast.

Bob Commerford got more mileage out of DICKIE than the entire marketing departmet of The Greatest Show on Earth.

Bob Commerford is one of show business most un-sung geniuses...it was my pleasure to have worked with Bob for three winter season on his mammoth indoor zoo and kids fair, I was in charge of the PRESS and making sure every television station knew that the "TALLEST LIVING LAND MAMMAL" was about to appear in their fair city, wherever the hell that may be that week.

18 3/4 feet from horn to hoof appearing for 2 days only!

PS I know they are not called horns, but the public doesn't know that.

The point is: there was only one giraffe featured.

There called occiscones (sp?).

I never used the term much because I didn't want to confuse an already confused general public.

Buffy did the Roman stand on the two young African elephants now with Circus Pages.

klsdad,
I would think standing astride two sloped back giraffe would be a feat in it's self. Even for a short time.

Mr. de Ritis,
Hoping to catch you here, without changing the subject. Are you familiar with a lady working lion's in Spain, named Katerina Gasse?

Mike Naughton,
Bob Commerford is indeed a giant in his industry? No doubt about it.

Buckles, we should do a BOB COMMERFORD WEEK here on the blog.

I've told this to Bob, sons Billy and Timmy...

Working with Bob Commerford for the three winter seasons (late 80's) was BETTER than getting a MASTERS OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION from Harvard University.

When I'm on the phone with a client and I use some of Bob Commerford's "negotiating tactics" and it WORKS, I get off the phone and shout out loud, "THANK YOU BOB COMMERFORD!"
