Kenneth Feld had this old timer brought from CWM to Los Angeles for the Barnum's Kaleidoscape date and when I asked the CHS group when the wagon had last been used on an L A lot Rick Pfening was the only one who knew. It had been borrowed from Louis Goebels for the 1959 Cristiani date.
I was on the Cristiani advance but got back one Sunday and saw the show and this wagon.
That was the same day that Vickie Cristiani broke her leg during the elephant act. She was thrown over onto a ring curb when the strap for the spin broke.
Buckles: What is the correct name for the trick or behavior that I am calling the spin?
Anonymous, Do you know why they go in the opposite direction? For the same reason that describing the "European style" of cage act's as easier and gentle is false. Anonymous, you could have signed your name. Or are you one of those who "never" go on the blog, or "read" Circus Report because you don't care what people say, and you didn't want your friend's to see that you were actually here. Wade Burck
About the oldest color photograph [not a colorized b&w view, but bonafide color] that you will ever see of a wagon depicts this vehicle on Sells-Floto. Look in your 1931 National Geographic and you'll see it there. The originals in the NG's vaults have gone the way of all flesh. The NG image served as the basis for the restoration paint job.
If you're wondering, there are some 1939 color photos of the Cole show. Color shots in between would likely be of great interest.
OK, Ole Whitey, what other old ticket wagon at Baraboo served on a Los Angeles area circus lot in the 1940s? Name of the circus proprietor?
Buckles...it is quite safe to post our last entry, yes it was in french, but no naughty words were included....After all we were just trying to bring a little culture to the gentlemen, God knows they could use it....Les Dames (that's french for The Ladies, see Mr. Burck, you do speak french after all)....

Isn't this the Sells-Floto Ticket Wagon now preserved at the Circus World Museum?

This is the old Sells Floto ticket wagon, it was lettered Sels Floto Circus with Tom Mix and his wonder horse Tony. It is now at CWM.
