Tampa Fairgrounds 1994 (To Jimmy Hall)

Both the Red Show and Blue Show shared the Fairgrounds the winter of 1993-94 making a total of 42 elephants.
Someone decided that a picture of the combined herds would be the most sensational thing of all times.
I happened to be there that day and as I recall the mothers and babies (Romeo and Juliet) were excluded plus one or two more for some reason, leaving 36 for the photo.
I didn't have the heart to tell Kenny that during periods of the 1930's and 1940's the Ringling Show had over 40 elephants in one herd and even 52 in 1955 that moved every day and for that matter, the winter of 1973-74 he might recall that we had 54 elephants squeezed into the Venice Quarters with the combination of the Red Show, Blue Show and Circus World herds.

kenny has never let the facts stand in the way of a claim like this. he and nicole don't seem to realize there was a ringling circus long befor his father died and he inherited it. in the good old days, ringling actually earned the title greatest show on earth, and nobody questioned it.
