Buckles:

These die-cut cards (I think they were made for people to put in scrapbooks) were on eBay recently- They supposedly date from the 1880s. How far back does the dinner table routine go? Does the bottle walk give a clue as to what act may have inspired these?

Dave,
I don't know for sure when they started making these die-cuts,but they were made primarily in Germany in the late 1800's and early 1900's. They were made in sheets and usually had a theme, so there was probably a whole sheet of circus animals. The people who deal in this type of printing refer to the sheets and cut up sheets as scrap and yes, they were made for kids to cut up and make scrapbooks.
A lot of this type of scrap, was reproduced in the last 25 years in eastern Europe.
