We were there for 19 seasons.
Like the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Ballet, the Big Apple Circus is ruled by a Board of Directors and relies heavily on outside sponsorship and private funding in order to exist.
I was told during the 18th season that due to outside pressure, the Board had decided that a day was rapidly approaching when exotic animals would have to be discontinued.

I would love to make a comment about the board of directors, but I believe that many of you would not like what I have to say or the way I would say it.

As I said in a previous comment some time ago, the Woodcocks and their elephants were a major highlight of the Big Apple Circus, which was never the same once they left. The animals were always in top condition and I never suspected any mistreatment whatsoever. How is Amy doing; did she have her calf yet?

My niece Dee (Hope's daughter) on a recent trip to California, stopped by Riddle's place to visit "Anna May's" grave site.
She said "Amy" is pretty round, I think she is due next winter.
