I don't know about a name, but we used to say Billy Barton carried one in a pocket inside his cape, he would take it out & put it on as the Ringmaster was introducing him.

Laura and her daughter learned it well from John. They turn that wonderful smile on when they come through the curtain and have all the charm in the world in the ring. They switch it right off going out the back door. But that is a big part of being a quality performer in the ring. And many others could learn from them!
