More on Daniel Suskow, and another picture...

Daniel Suskow was born in 1949. His father was wild animal trainer Otto Suskow. Daniel Suskow's wife, Annette Tonnely Suskow is from a circus family. Annette and Daniel have a daughter, Sandrine. At age twenty, Daniel Suskow joined Circus Jean Richard in 1969 with a lion act. He left Europe in 1981 to join Ringling Brothers. Following his time with Ringling Brothers Mr. Suskow performed with the Tarzan Zerbini Canadian Circus. He returned to Europe in 1991. Since returning to Europe Mr. Suskow has performed with a number of the major circuses. I have also seen on several European web sites where his name spelled Souskov.

You can see a performance by Daniel Suskow on "Great Circuses Of The World" (1989), an hour long ABC Television Program, that was hosted by Mary Hart. At the time, Daniel Suskow was appearing with the Al Azhar Shrine/Tarzan
Zerbini Canadian Circus. He presents a cage act of six to eight Bengal and Siberian tigers. Later in the show Daniel Suskow with his daughter Sandrine present the Tarzan Zerbini Elephants, a group of three Asian elephants. The show was taped at the Saddledome in Calgary,! Canada.

I read John Herriot's post about Daniel Suskow with interest. I found Mr. Herriot's comments that Daniel Suskow had returned to Ringling Brothers, and was training a tiger act for his daughter to present even more interesting. What year was that? How big was the act? Who would his daughter have replaced on the show?

I believe that in 1995, Daniel Suskow's daughter, Sandrine was married to Andre-Joseph Bouglione of the famed French Circus Family Bouglione. In addition to appearing with her father and the elephants, Sandrine was a trapeze artist and did present a cage act. Sandrine and her husband Andre are the directors of Circus Joseph Bouglione.
After reading the comments and learning more about Daniel Suskow, I regret that I never saw him perform in person. It looks like Ringling Brothers lost out on a very talented and versatile performer.
