Please tell us about the interior of an elephant car. How did the elephants stand, once loaded inside the car? Were they perpendicular to the engine? Or did they enter the car and turn right or left so they were facing the engine? Thank you. -- ToddP; 03 May, 2007 08:05
Buckles said...: As a rule these cars could accommodate 12 adult elephants, standing two abreast.
Four in each end facing each other for feeding purposes which would keep the manure out of the hay. The final four stood in the doorway facing each other for the same reason.

When I was on the show, the cars were 80'. All were 10' wide.; 03 May, 2007 12:47
