From Feline Behavior

Florida owners really need your help!

FL HB 1505 WILDLIFE...Regulati ng Captive Wildlife
<http://capwiz. com/naiatrust/ issues/alert/ ?alertid= 9585181&queueid= 112885980
1>

Requires a $10,000 bond for Class I wildlife!!! (Large Felids, etc.)

HB 1505 is on the agenda of the Environment and Natural Resources Council
for April 4, Wednesday, at their 4 pm meeting. We all need to take action
immediately on this flawed bill.

HB 1505 proposed by Representative Poppell, at the urging of Senator
Alexander
, started out as a bill to regulate venomous reptiles and reptiles
of concern. At that point, it had the support of the herp folks...but an
amendment was added.

HB 1505 has been amended to require that all CLASS I permitees obtain a
$10,000 surety bond for their animals, to "protect" the public in case of
escapes.

This is a ridiculous and outrageous requirement to put in place since there
has NEVER been a case in Florida of a Class I animal injuring a member of
the public! All incidents involving Class I animals have been with handlers
and trainers, who have chosen to work with these animals.

This is an unfair and unjust proposal and should be voted down by the
legislators, as it will in no way provide for protection of the public.

Florida already has the best regulation in the US on captive wildlife.

Requiring a surety bond does not protect the public.

Proper caging and proper procedures protect the public.

This bill will simply unfairly penalize Class I permit holders and
ultimately cause them to lose their animals and those animals to perhaps be
euthanized!

PLEASE TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION ON THIS MATTER!

Write a message which will go to the members of the Environment and Natural
Resource Council. Please do it now as the council meets tomorrow! We need to
flood them with emails.

PLEASE DO THIS FOR THE ANIMALS AND THEIR OWNERS

I just sent this letter to the so called "powers that be",(probably deaf ears & blind eyes), in Tallahasee, & all points North. The layout of the forms in this post are easy to handle so we all need to get our opinions sent.

It is a proven fact that most people do want to see exotic animals in Zoos, & Circuses. We live in a country of majority rule, why do legislators pay attention to a few radical Animal Rights Activists, who collect money under false pretenses,(little of that money is actually used to benefit animals), & operate orginizations,(such as "The Humane Society of the United States")under titles intending to deceive the public into believing they are connected to the government.
The majority of these people have never owned, or worked with animals in any way, and have no idea how to handle them,( the recent death of a so called handler at the Tenn. Animal Activist sponsered Elephant Sanctuary is proof of this), or what their needs are, yet in state after state legislation is being passed because of these peoples opinion.
When someone abuses their children, you don't take children away from all parents, but in the isolated cases of animal abuse our legislators punish everyone who has animals.
Animal Rights Activests call themselves "Animal Lovers", yet they repeatedly state, "They're better off dead" Something is wrong here, and you are the only ones who can change it.

Scott Blais is making a speech in Tenn to a group of people. This Scott was responsiable for the death of the young lady "Joanna Burke" on that sanctuary in Tenn. Because carol buckley refuses to allow the use of the tool to handle elephants a young lady was killed by an elephant known to have killed before. What will it take to make lawmakers understand these animal activist have no knowledge of the care and the safety issues of wild animals. Another death of a young person beliving the lies of these activist? Scott Blais and carol buckley have no business being around elephants, let alone being responsiable for the lives of others. They have no business playing doctor to these endangered elephants. Neither one of these people have any training in medical proceedures for these elephants. Remember "SUE" "LOTA" "JENNY" "BARBARA" and "JOANNA BURKE".
