Cole Bros. Circus 1940 #8

Menagerie canvas wagon also had a room in front for the elephant trappings, etc. Tied to the back is the Boss elephant man's horse "Circus".

Later in 1945 I can remember that this horse didn't have much of a mane or tail. Someone had the patience to explain to me that the Governmant had quarentined a group of horses at the Louisville Fairgounds and shaved all their hair off as they were to be used for experimental purposes to see if horse blood could be used some way in plasma. For some reason this one was given to the show.
Now looking back, I find it surprising that someone was already planning ahead for the impending war.

It appears that in the case of this wagon, the show has already started the switch to steel wheels (vs. wooden spoked) Notice the rear wheel. Looks kind of strange

Appaloosa horses don't have much of a tail to start with.
