I've never seen this photo before. It shows off Leo nicely, but bypasses the trick of Nero leaping over us. This quick style was more to see that Nero was indeed headed for his seat than a photo op. Leo was a very godd looking lion and also avery good working animal. I could hurry him along to this prop by whacking him with my hand or "boosting" him with my knee. But if I even lightly slapped him with a tool ,he would try to bite my left leg when I tried to sit on him
Under the photograph it reads: Larry Allen Dean, *1948 Norwich/Connecticut, USA: 1990 im Schweitzer National- Circus Knie mit 14 Lowen und Lowinnen. (Foto: Archiv Tiede)

"Dick Dastardly" indeed!
I should say "Snidely Whiplash"."
Buckles gets the gold star
Not knowing Dick Dastardly, I was going for Snidley Whiplash
