Hello!! Re: Red unit animal walk to Madison Square Garden this Tues.. March 27, 2007. Just called (Sun) the New York City Queens Midtown Tunnel Authority and they're closing the inbound tunnel from Queens to Manhattan starting at 11:30 PM.. this Tuesday.. March 27, 2007. As most of you know (and have made the trip several times), they start from the railyard in Queens and usually don't arrive in Manhattan until after midnight. They come-out of the tunnel into Manhattan between 2nd and 3rd Avenues and cross 34th Street to the Garden at 33rd between 7th and 8th Avenues. See you there!! Yipppeeeee.. they're back!! I thought I had my usual "opening night" ticket for March 31(Sat). Now find out they're giving a special free ticketed Salvation Army performance on Friday evening (Mar 30th) called The Night of 10,000 Smiles, and have a morning and afternoon show on Sat. prior to the evening show. They should be fine-tuned by Sat evening!! (But...see the other article I'm sending re pending anti-performing-animal legislation in New York City.) Regards... klsdad |

Hi...Nobody here knows me, I'm just a kid growing up in what is coninuously be coming a circus free world. I stumbled upon this blog and have become addicted to indside look it gives to this age old tradition. I can't even express the pain that I get every single time I see another state trying to ban the use of exotic animals. It makes me sick to think that maybe one day, my own children will think of elephants the way I think of dinosaurs. I know it's a long shot, but still. It scares me. I think it is awful that just because a few people have abused their priviledge as animal trainers that they have ruined it for those who love and cherish the animals and are bent upon sharing them with the public and the world. PETA is making generalizations about a massive organization because of a few bad eggs. If you watch movies they have on their websites, they are old, from days that are now gone. Regulations and new blood have changed that world. The circus does wonderful things for elephant conservation, I have found numerous websites about different circuses that have had elephant births. However, it's natural for two opposing groups will nitpick at eachother until one falls down. I just hope and pray every night that the circus doesn't lose. Please, do what you can to end this nonsense of ending the use of animals. If not only for your sake, but the sake of all the children and future children of the world who would not be able to see one of the greatest creatures God has given us. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful work and all the smiles you bring!
Well said now copy it and send it in it's form to the congress men and women so they can defeat the Bills in Conn and Calif.
klsdad here...
Wow... They're BACK!!
True to form... the elephants and horses (small and large) of the RBBB Red unit crossed 34th Sreet this morning - 12:30 AM March 28, 2007. The crowds were unusually large and the police had placed
metal fences all along the curbs. Good crowd control! There were about a 100 persons..
around the 9 elephants.. with
Bello on the front elephant
covered with the "I - red heart - Love NY" blanket.
Also.. for the first time..
there were persons carrying a clothesline rope on the curbside of the animals.
But.... OH.. the best
part of all... The AROMA of the elephants!! Sure gave me a thrill.
Another wonderful experience!
I hope they all go to see the show!! I'll be there for the 7:30 show.
(I saw an ad showing some company is sponsoring $15 tickets to all 3 performances on Sat. Hope it's not a sign of a problem!!)
Regards.. klsdad
