From Dave Orr

Our sincere thanks to everyone who contacted the Connecticut Joint Environment Committee regarding House Bill 6599. The news out of yesterday's Committee vote is not good, but it's not over yet either. The language of HB 6599 was added as an amendment to another animal bill, and the amendment passed out of the Committee by only one vote. We still do not know what the exact language of the amendment is, but we hear it would still make it impossible to present elephants in Connecticut.

The next step for the amendment would be a House floor vote, but we are hoping it will not get that far. There is no need to contact legislators until we have more information. We will keep everyone posted on any news. Again, thank you to everyone who wrote, called, and/or e-mailed this Committee -- the response from Circus Fans and supporters was very valuable and definitely appreciated!
