Buckles, I assume this would be MacLain or Reed as the Captain. Also maybe you can identify the elephants. It appears the tent would be the menagerie or sideshow as it is only two middles. Sure are long centerpoles.

You are right, Walter McLain was in charge in 1928, by this time Reed had his own elephant act.
The six big elephants were:
Topsy, Tillie, Queen, Myrtle, Bonnie and Babe.
The punks were:
Alice, Mary and Julie.

I was wondering about the centerpoles as well. Must be flagpoles, they seem to be a seperate pole attached to the top of the centerpoles. They sure have a lot of guylines on them. But for the camera there would be flags. Anybody know for sure?

At the top of each center pole there was a slot for the flagstaff to fit into.
The ropes coming from the flagstaff were to raise and lower the flags.
