Haag Bros. Circus 1938 #1 (From Buckles)

In Vaudeville, the Sangers Midgets included in their performance a Circus number, that included jugglers, acrobats, a strong man and even a group of small elephants that did an act.
These are two of them "Fritzi" and "Mitzi", now grown and with the Haag Show on Thanksgiving Day 1938, in Jasper, Texas.
In 1941 they were the first elephants ever to tour with Mills Bros. Circus where "Mitzi' died and after which "Fritzi" was sold to the Mexico City Zoo where he was featured for many years.Posted by Picasa

Sure looks like it is.

Jules Jacot worked with Singer's Midgets (backstage, he wasn't that small)as an elephant man in the late 30s. He said they had Ziggy, the Brookfield Zoo bull, at the time. I think I had read that as part of Ziggy's biography.

The Coca Cola sign on the ground in the back looks right.

As an afterthought. Fritzie did work in harness and he rode overland in a straight job I believe, open air with about four foot sides. He would get on a tub at the back of the truck, turn around and back in.

That could very well be Heavy posing with them on Haag.
