This is off just a bit in years, but when Virginia, the baby female Asian elephant joined the show in 1922,she was small enough to be displayed in a cage wagon for the first season. Virginia later became know as Burma, the mainstay of the Mills Bros. Circus herd. Bob
The first cage side board says - "Polar Bear" and the third cage would appear to be a hippo cage. Perhaps Richard Reynolds would know if S-F carried a hippo in 1930.

Looking at these old photos reminds me of the seasoned old-timers who told me I was born 40 years too late.
