This was taken on opening day in 1991, and was Kathleen's first show.
She was supposed to be doing a shoulder stand with Simba, a female liger, who was very good natured. Kathleen and Simba had been doing it all winter in practice.
But when it was show time, Simba heard "her music" and ran over-enthusiastically to Kathleen to do "her trick". Kathleen quite simply could not hold her, and was knocked to the ground. It actually happened twice, and the trick was discontinued.
You can actually get this on a video. I have it but would have to do some real digging this morning. I am not sure of the title, but someone out there this morning might be able to tell you right away. She handled herself quite well. Carl

The name of the video tape is "WINTER QUARTERS" and may still be available through the Circus World Museum gift shop.
