From Jim Cole

"This is John Herriott presenting the Circus World Museum 12 Pony Liberty Act at the Cincinnati Gardens in 1968. They are using the CWM ring curb but it's not quite big enough to encircle Joe Zoppe's ring mat (note the extra secion)." Posted by Picasa

Bobby Gibbs was there and he and hog jaw would help lead in. Notr the numbers on the harness. Lucky Larabee would annouce the mix up. One night when standing in the ring waiting I looked at the ponies and seeing them all in place I waved my whip and waited for the applause. No applause so then I looked at the numbers and found that Mr. Gibbs had unsnaaped a number of then and rearranged them. Nothing I could do until the act was over and I wanted to shoot Bobby and then I had to laugh myself. A true Bobby Gibbs story.

I think Jimmy Cole was there to and was probably in on the skulduggery.

Looks like Bobby at the back of the ring. No wonder, MR would normally be there.

I am sorry. That is Cicinatti and I recall that it was in Columbus when Bobby messed me up. That must be Frankie Brown backing up the ring. Its hell to get old and foregetful. Thanks Jimmy. Itwas also in Clumbus that Bobby put sun glasses on me and himself and with Oscar Cristiani in the middle, all three elephant trainers had sun glasses on.

To John Herriott, Regarding the Bobby Gibbs escapade in Columbus, OH in 1969, Neither Frankie Braun nor I had anything to do with it.

However, once we ware made aware of Gibb's plans to re-number the liberty harness, we did little to discourage it.
