How many of us old timers can remember the location and significance of this landmark?

The fabled Bare-Ass Hotel, of West Baden, Indiana, boasted many circus names in its registration books, and was the scene of certain significant circus business transactions.
Ed Ballard of the ACC owned a resort in the West Baden area with a grand resort hotel frequnted by big shots from around the country and in fact he had the John Robinson circus winter there as an attraction during those great years of Mugivan, Ballard and Bowers. I think Roger is referring to that.
Clyde Beatty's first wife during the late forties and early fifties was the very handsome, personable, middle aged desk clerk at the Bearss hotel in [as Terrel Jacobs always referred to] Peeeru, Ind.
Oh, THAT Bare-Ass Hotel. OK. I was indeed carried away with West Baden, because Mabel told me a lot of being there under the old ACC regime. She was with John Robinson in '28.
Leonard Farley insisted the pronunciation was after the Church Latin, PAY-roo, which I used for years. Once there, I found the Native Americans had it as Piru, and said PEE-roo, so the Lion King had it right all along.
Get in trouble, Rebecca. Lots of us old animal guys will bail you out.
Another comment? All right. Look at this site. The photos, the history recounted, even argued. The memories given new life. An old cageboy gently reminded where the hotel was. You can't beat it. Thanks, Buckles and Shaz.

Close but no cigar.
In Mr. Ingrassia's own words "The Bare-Ass Hotel in Pee-Roo!"

When Peru was the Capitol of the circusverse the Bearss Hotel must have been just about the best place in the world to view history happening.
