Bobby Moore Elephants #1 (Wayne Jackson Collection)


These are the elephants used for the Ringling Japanese Unit in 1988, sitting on the dock at Osaka while the tent is being erected. Bobby Moore waving at left and it looks like Smokey and Scott Riddle seated in the background.

Bobby Moore, a tough gutsy guy. When Daffodil did a number on him right during the show up in Canada she did everything but the final curtain and he had severe ruptured intestines, broken bones, etc. He was all patched and wired up, but when we all went to Japan he appeared O.K. Maybe he took alot of painkillers but he was up hopping and popping. I was always amazed that Smokey as his confidante-trainer-consultant did not advise him that she was bad news and certainly too much for a novice like him to mess with. Shr already had a track record downing Al and being nasty in general. I was in Detroit with Tanya and Al and Walt were there. I tailed up to her on the banner walk and she shook the banner every step and sure had an attitude. There were two double tough ones in that group, Tulsa and Daffodil and I caught Tanya go after a shriner with her mouth open. I guess Smokey and Bobby figured that they had Hymecapoobalized her [Smokey's definition] but it sure didn't work then and we found out later as well. Frankly I became somewhat of a coward in later years around tough elephants and am glad I did cause I am still here to tell about te number of times I been knocked on my ass. Pony training is alot safer.

i rember in the catskill game farm when videbel was there and at nights i help him walk the punks and rember seeing Daffdil always breaking tail and trying to take down anything she could get hold of and i rember thinking whats going to happen when she will be full grown . as we know the rest is history clean raul

To the uninformed, Mr. Clean Raul is not to be confused with his counterpart Foul Raul.

Gomez is Clean Raul. The infamous Foul Raul was murdered some time ago after I left the Ringling Show.
I was called in as a character witness on his behalf during the trial but the perp plead out before I was called to testify.

Foul Raul was shot on the train and kill in winter quarters in Venice winter on 82. The perp threw the gun in the canal by the train and thought he would get off when no weapon was found. To bad for him someone saw him throw the gun and divers found it several days later. He was not a show guy, but brought on the show by one of the concession bosses.

If the Asian stud book is correct, Daffodil became Ringling Reba. She was at the stud farm for a while and continued with her bad attitude. She is now at the Phoenix Zoo in protected contact. Tova has quite the rep too. Tom Hafner and Dan Subaitus told me about couple of her attacks. After being at the stud farm for a while she was sent out on the blue unit in '03 to replace Zina. Within two weeks she had already sent one of the guys I knew through the elephant tent side wall and was intending to finish the job if not for her chain.
