When we shot the Blossom's Circus sequences for DR. DOLITTLE, at Disney's Golden Oaks Ranch, out in Placerita Canyon, we had an antique living wagon like the one seen here in the middle. We all enjoyed it, and the 2nd Assistant Directors had fits chasing the extras out of there, who were using it for quickies between takes.
Roger I was going to ask what a quickies was and then a light flashed in my head. You naughty naughty boy. I am going to look for you in the new Clint Eastwood movie.
You have to look quick and hard to spot your extras. If I'm seen at all, I'm in the Drake Hotel ballroom sequence, where the 3 surviving Iwo Jima flag raisers are celebrated. The men are all in tuxes, with the ladies wearing the beautiful 1940s hairstyles and evening gowns.
Mr. Eastwood is a very effective, quiet gentleman on the set, and his cast and crew are entirely comfortable around him. The only rather amusing complaint about him is, he usually wraps his company around 5 or 6 pm, just in time for the Los Angeles rush hour.
