The Mighty "Jumbo" #2


This photo of "Jumbo" was taken at Regant Park Zoo in London shortly after being purchased by Barnum & London in 1882.
Bill Neuman, Barnum & London's Chief Elephant Man, standing at left and Matthew Scott, English keeper with hand on the elephant's trunk.
Scott was the only keeper "Jumbo" ever had, he would accompany him to the U.S. and even remain with the show after "Jumbo's" death.

It may be just the picture, but I'm certain I've never seen an elephant this size. How does Jumbo compare in size to Colonel Joe and Tommy? My real question being, who is the biggest elephant to appear in this country?
