King-Cristiani Circus 1952

I kept thinking about the bandwagon in Picture #6 below and it just occurred to me that I was in the same daily street parade with it for six weeks on the King Show in 1954.

John Herriott told me that he drove this unit in the parade when he was on the show and every time they came to a steep down grade, Hinkley would have him stop and the band would walk down the hill and then climb aboard again at the bottom. They must have known something.

As I have previously mentioned, a circus band making parades doesn't have to carry any music since they play the same tune repeatedly to a new audience every few blocks down the street.

What a great photo - and could that possibly be Bagonghi (sp) the dwarf clown on the far right with the round hat? He was with The Cristiani Family for many years and did that great coke balancing act on a stick. I saw it many times and knew the outcome but he always made it fresh - He really knew how to work that stunt. Charles H.
