One of Jack Hoxie's most famous screen roles was that of Buffalo Bill in the silent film THE LAST FRONTIER. Cecil B. DeMille apparently remembered this film well enough so that later, when he was looking for actors for his upcoming film THE PLAINSMAN, he told his staff that the part of Buffalo Bill "should be played by a Jack Hoxie type."
