Clown Walkaround #3

At right is none other than Prof. Eugenic himself. The baby is holding what appears to be a beer bottle. This gag needs an explanation also.

That one's weird. Eugentics is considered nowadays to be a very dark part of mental health history. Very small kids and babies were evaluated for mental retardation and the parents had to surrender them to institutions for life. Eugenic kids were always steralized.
I'm thinking that gag wouldn't go over well today. Well, maybe at Soleil.

I forgot to add, there are still those who promote Eugenics, which also includes the 'mercy' killings of the less-than-perfect. One of the supporters is Pete Singer - the well known animal rights activist/author.

Hi, Buckles. I just posted my first comment. Here's my second. I'm getting addicted to this stuff.

The American Eugenics Society was founded in 1922, so it would have been in the news. It advocated improving human beings, among other ways, by manipulating birth control to create perfect babies, which must have led to fears of abnormal babies, like this "6 month old" baby with a long beard.

On the "Maggie's Drawers" comment with the other walkaround, its use must have faded because I never heard it when I was in the Army in 1971-1973.

I had no idea I was dating myself so badly. At Ft. Chaffee in the 1950's at the rifle range, a crew of men were stationed beneath each target in a deep trench.
When firing stopped we would pull down and then "post" and "paste" each target.
Something like a large postage samp was placed over each bullet hole and the score and location of each round was signaled by a long pole with a round disc on the end.
For each round that missed the target completely a red flag called Maggies Drawers" was waved.
Now in the computerized world the shooter probably knows his score
after each round is fired.
