I take it that this was a sound stage. It looks to much like a building to be realistic. It has the Disney wagons in it. Was this a Disney release?
Bob
Right, Bob--
It was a soundstage. Exteriors has us on a canvas show, but interiors were devoid of poles. They hung the canvas on skyhooks and lost the atmosphere of a Big Top circus. Eddie Dullum told me Barbette was pissed off no end that Eddie was critical of his spec. We saw many of our friends in this one, but overall, in this critic's opinion, the film did nothing for the circus genre. It sort of lived up to what Victor Mature said of his career when he was denied membership in the Los Angeles Country Club, where no actors were allowed. "Hell," he said, "I'm no actor, and I've got 25 pictures to prove it."
On the subject of circus movies; I just bought "Ring Of Fear". The cover said it was he first time released-Kmart special for those that may be interested. cc
